The 2011 British Marine Electronics Association Conference is due to take place on Wednesday, October 19th, 2011 at the Portsmouth Marriott Hotel. The annual event provides an opportunity for all sides of the marine industry to get together not only to discuss topics of mutual interest but also to create and build beneficial business relationships.

Garmin today announced it has updated its GHP 12 Marine Autopilot System to support powerboats with both solenoid-driven and cable-actuated steering systems, as well as those with third-party hydraulic pumps. Prior to this update, the GHP 12 only supported linear-actuated steering systems for sailboats.

Icom have supported a successful team of eight adventurers who became the first people to travel from Scotland to the Arctic Circle in six metre RIBs (Rigid Inflatable Boats). The GORE-TEX Arctic Challenge, which featured two Suzuki powered 6.3 metre Humber RIBs, represented a world first and involved a 1000 mile journey undertaken in just 6 days from the north of Scotland to Norway’s Lofoten Islands north of the Arctic Circle.
