Wireless NMEA Server from Digital Yacht

Wireless is fast becoming the buzz word in the marine electronics industry with more and more applications available for wireless devices such as iPhones and iPads. With lots of onboard systems using legacy NMEA 0183 data, Digital Yacht has devised a NMEA to WiFi adaptor – a small black box unit which converts traditional NMEA navigation and instrument data into a wireless TCP/IP feed.

The Simrad NSE multifunction display and NSO Offshore navigation system were honored with Motor Boating Magazine’s 2011 Best of the Year Award, and the Simrad BSM-2 Broadband Sounder received the National Marine Manufacturers Association (NMMA) Innovation Award.

Chris Stanmore-Major regains ground thanks to Raymarine

After being forced to take 36 hours out to fix a large tear in his mainsail, Chris Stanmore-Major has clawed back some 150Nm on his competitors and is now back in contention for a podium position on the Leg 3 of the Velux 5 Oceans Race. In his latest update from the Southern Ocean Chris puts this achievement down to his Raymarine equipment, in particular the SPX30 autopilot, which he describes as the “most indispensible item of equipment on the boat”.
