The 2009 British Marine Electronics Association (BMEA) Conference took place on 21st October at the Novotel Hotel, Southampton. The event sponsored by Victron Energy had over 80 delegates from all over the marine electronic and electrical sectors of the marine industry. The conference provided an opportunity for all sides of the marine industry to get together not only to discuss topics of mutual interest but also to create and build beneficial business relationships.

The BMEA (British Marine Electronics Association) is committed to ensuring that the quality and expertise of our members is appreciated by customers and boat-builders. An important part of this is to establish training and qualifications that allows the development of engineers and to recognise their achievements.

Combining the latest advanced technology in an ultra-stylish, edge-to-edge black glass screen, Raymarine’s new glass bridge systems are aimed at meeting the highly demanding operational and interior design requirements for vessels over 40 feet.

Raymarine, Inc., a world leader in marine electronics, and navigation expert Jeppesen Marine have announced that C-MAP by Jeppesen cartography will come standard on the new Raymarine E-Series Widescreen with HybridTouch multifunction display. This marks the reunion of Raymarine navigation displays with C-MAP by Jeppesen technology and a powerful new partnership between the well-known marine electronics and navigation leaders. E-Series Widescreen customers will also have the option to upgrade to Jeppesen Marine’s new C-MAP 4D cartography, which offers boaters a virtual 3D world display enhanced with satellite photos and Jeppesen Marine’s unrivaled navigation detail and accuracy.

Icom UK have teamed up with sucessful yachtsman and Kent architect Peter Jackson, whose Stimson 42 yacht ‘Assassin’ was renamed the ‘Icom Assassin’ earlier this year. As part of the sponsorship, Icom UK supplied Skipper/Helmsman Peter and part owner Gary Shaffer with an IC-M505 VHF/DSC marine transceiver, Icom HM-162 Waterproof Remote-control Microphone and two IC-M71 handheld marine transceivers for use on the vessel.

Now users have a choice of charting software and the flexibility in operating their new multi-function display, thanks to the ingenuity of Raymarine’s new E Series Widescreen which is being previewed at this Autumn’s boat shows.

Radar target detection has undergone massive evolutionary changes in the last year, thanks to the introduction of High Definition Digital technology. Now the superior benefits of these new systems are available to even more boaters, with the launch of Raymarine’s new HD Digital radomes.
